Rock climbing with Sierra Soul Adventures takes place exclusively outside Yosemite National Park, as only the Yosemite Mountaineering School is authorized to guide within park boundaries. However, we offer incredible rock climbing experiences in the Eastern Sierra, with stunning locations in and around Mammoth that showcase the region's dramatic landscapes and diverse routes.
Single Pitch Climbing
Warming Wall, Mammoth Lakes
Located in the breathtaking Mammoth Lakes area, the Warming Wall is a must-visit crag for climbers of all levels. This popular destination features a range of well-bolted sport routes that cater to both beginners and seasoned climbers.
Thanks to its sunny exposure, the Warming Wall is a favored winter climbing spot, allowing for comfortable climbs even in cooler months. The stunning granite faces provide exhilarating moves and rewarding challenges amidst spectacular Eastern Sierra views.
Whether you’re looking to improve your skills or simply enjoy a day in the outdoors with friends and family, the Warming Wall offers a welcoming atmosphere and a fantastic climbing experience.
Routes Overview
Difficulty: Beginner to Advanced (5.5- 5.11)
Length: 50-60 feet
Approach: ~5-10 minutes (park in large parking lot near Austria Hof Lodge)
Sunshine Wall, Mammoth Lakes
Sunshine Wall is an iconic climbing destination renowned for its stunning views and diverse range of climbing routes. This crag is an excellent choice for climbers of all abilities, offering well-bolted sport climbs that vary in difficulty.
As the name suggests, Sunshine Wall basks in sunlight for much of the day, making it a popular spot for winter climbing when conditions permit. The granite features create exciting challenges, including technical face climbs and rewarding overhangs, all set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Eastern Sierra landscape.
Routes Overview
Difficulty: Intermediate to Advanced (5.7- 10.11)
Length: 70-110 feet
Approach: ~10 minutes (park at Horseshoe Lake)
Multi-pitch Climbing
North Arete, Crystal Crag
Located in the heart of the Eastern Sierra near Mammoth Lakes, the North Arete of Crystal Crag is a stunning alpine adventure with breathtaking views, solid rock, and fun, moderate climbing. This route, with an elevation of about 10,364 feet, offers an exhilarating combination of crack and face climbing over 3 to 4 pitches, finishing by climbing on a huge section of white quartz with panoramic views of the lakes and jagged Sierra peaks.
You can also climb this in the winter for a mixed snow and ice experience!
Route Overview
Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate; exposure is moderate but manageable (5.6-5.8)
Length: Approximately 300-400 feet with multiple pitches
Approach: ~1-1.5 hours (from Lake George Trailhead)
Descent: Via a series of walk-offs or a short rappel
Winter Ice Climbing
Roadside Ice, June Lake
Located along the scenic Highway 395, Roadside Ice is a classic winter destination for ice climbing enthusiasts in the Eastern Sierra. This accessible area offers a variety of frozen waterfalls and ice formations, ranging from short beginner routes to longer, more technical climbs that challenge seasoned climbers. With routes typically forming between 75-130 feet in height, climbers can expect a mix of vertical sections, gentle slopes, and natural features ideal for both top-roping and lead climbing.
Thanks to its location, Roadside Ice is ideal for those looking to enjoy a day of climbing without extensive approaches. The site also provides easy access to nearby hot springs, which make for a perfect way to unwind and warm up after a cold day on the ice. Winter temperatures can be extreme, so proper layering and gear are essential.

Length: 75- 130 feet
Approach: ~5 minutes (park near Edison power plant, next to locked gate)

Partial Day: $250/person
Full Day: $450/person
To reserve your spot, a refundable deposit of $100 is required at booking. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your scheduled activity date.
Cancellation Policy:
31+ days prior to departure: Full refund of your deposit.
0 to 30 days prior to departure: Loss of $100 deposit.

Rachel and Garet share a bond built on a love for beautiful places, each other, and the spirit of adventure. Together, they founded Sierra Soul Adventures to share that passion and create meaningful, empowering experiences for others.
Garet will be your lead climbing guide, bringing his expertise and enthusiasm to each climb. Rachel will be there to assist as needed, ensuring you have support and guidance throughout your experience.

Rachel brings nearly a decade of experience in the outdoor industry, guiding extensively in Yosemite National Park and spent a season in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. A Wilderness First Responder for 9 years, she is dedicated to risk management and backcountry safety. Rachel is known for her warmth and natural ability to connect with others, always ready with a helping hand and a friendly smile.

Garet brings a wealth of guiding experience, with extensive time spent guiding in both Yosemite National Park and the Eastern Sierra. As a Wilderness First Responder and AMGA-certified apprentice rock guide, he prioritizes risk management and careful assessment in every setting. Known for his calm, patient demeanor and deep knowledge of the Sierra Nevada history, Garet is easygoing and approachable, making him a trusted companion and guide in the outdoors.
